Junior Coach Education Workshop – Goalkeeping Basics

With the 2016 winter season fast approaching I am delighted  to announce the  rolling out of the Junior Coach Education workshop for the year.  The first course to be delivered is the newly introduced  ‘Introduction  to Goalkeeping’ which is a 2 hour workshop focusing on the ‘Goalkeeping Basics’ for junior players, a workshop which will be delivered by former All White GK James Bannatyne. This course focuses on how to deliver age-appropriate GK coaching sessions via practical demonstration around the five key Goalkeeping fundamentals (Footwork, Set Position, Handling, Diving, & Distribution).

This course is not solely targeted at goalkeeping specific coaches as it is very rare at the junior level for clubs/school to have a dedicated Goalkeeping coach. Therefore I believe it is important that all our coaches working with junior teams have a good understand of the Goalkeeping basics so they are able to assist in the development future Goalkeepers, a highly specialised position which until now has received very little attention.

Course details are as follows:
Date: Friday 4th March
Time: 6pm – 8pm
Venue: Brain Perry Sports House, Sport Waikato
Cost: Free
